Veterinary arthroscopy means looking into the joints. Arthroscopes are very tiny needle like rigid fiber optic shafts. They are connected to a bright light source and camera system that allows for visualization of the internal structures of the joint. These tools are both diagnostic as well as therapeutic allow diagnosis of joint capsule, cartilage and ligament disease. In many cases these maladies can be treated or cured with the arthroscopic procedure. Veterinary Arthroscopes require a clear field which is created by distending the joint with fluid.
